Janan Srour’s hairdressing career began in 5th grade with a homework assignment to write a book about her self. In this book, she described how she would one day be a teacher AND hairdresser…
Fast forward to 1996, when she began her journey to become a hairdresser by attending The Cosmetology Institute (TCI) in North Carolina. After graduating, she immediately continued her education by earning a teacher’s license. She stayed with TCI as an educator, teaching general education as well as specialized courses in makeup artistry and hair color. While working with TCI, she began her career as an educator with Farouk Systems, which then led to her becoming a member of the Creative Artistic Team and a master colorist.

In 1999, she traveled to Los Angeles and completed a 6-week course in hair cutting at Vidal Sassoon Academy. While she was there, she was bitten by the California bug and in 2000 found her self moving across country to live in Hollywood. During her time there, she took advantage of more specialized training in beauty and special effects makeup at the Studio Make-up Academy. She also attended Susan Lipson’s On-Set Motion Picture Hair Academy for further training in the practical hands-on applications used in all stages of television and motion picture production. While living in Hollywood, she stumbled upon a “For Rent” sign in a prime commercial center near the beach. That’s when the seed was planted for her to open a hair and skincare studio. Glow Hair and Skin Therapy was born in 2002, and she quickly built up a solid clientele due to her reputation as a premiere hair colorist in the area.
